World Food Programme Media Training

Challenge

In 2020, the WFP contracted Albany to provide training in public speaking and media engagement to improve the skills of country directors and their deputies. Through a combination of online and offline training, Albany would build the WFP’s capabilities to publicise their vital work inside their target countries and to the wider international community.

Approach

To begin this process, Albany built upon established comprehensive training programmes within Albany Academy, tailoring them based on an assessment of strategic objectives and the needs of participants formed in collaboration with our WFP partners. Once this was in place, Albany began delivering a hybrid training programme inclusive of interactive group sessions and one-to-one practice sessions with participants from around the globe.

Outcome

As of 2022, Albany’s partnership with WFP continues to grow, with training cohorts from WFP’s Bureaus in West and East Africa, as well as in Afghanistan. Attracting acclaim from the East Africa Regional Bureau:

“Keep up the good job you are doing to demystify the myth that great public speakers are born great speakers. I have learnt that anyone can learn to be a great public speaker.”

“The content was rich, the trainer was very engaging and easy to communicate with, and the delivery was detailed and easy to grasp. I would definitely enrol for another course at Albany Academy in future.”
