Albany was tasked with developing the capabilities of the UN’s senior leadership, globally, in media skills, digital and social media and public speaking. As the delegates were from a wide variety of disciplines and UN missions, understanding each unique mission and what it needed to communicate was key. Although the training was predominantly delivered in English, we also needed to analyse various elements in French, Spanish, Arabic and Russian to guarantee culturally attuned communications styles.
We decided to utilise a variety of innovative training engagement tools, including a bespoke training mobile application, easily downloaded to smart devices or laptops. We then supported this with one-to-one mentoring sessions, which were conducted virtually and built into UN work patterns to enable flexible learning. Similarly, group workshops were also conducted via webinars. In certain cases, these workshops were delivered face-to-face for co-located groups. These sessions were conducted by a team of long standing Albany Trainers, located across the world, who brought their own specialist knowledge and language skills.
Over 100 one-to-one virtual mentoring sessions and over 20 group workshops, via webinar and face-to-face training, were conducted, from Asia to Latin America. Our training mobile applications were made available to over 100 individual devices, with on-going mentorship provided as and when needed on top of the core training.
